Banking on Australia as a tech nation

Australia is on a mission to stand out on the world map as a tech nation with a globally competitive digital economy. And it’s not just tech start-ups driving it all, well-established companies across industries and all levels of government and education have their eyes set on owning a chapter in our nation’s digital narrative.

It may or may not come as a surprise that Australia’s banks play a critical role in setting the tone for our digital economy. As they say, if ‘software is eating the world’, then banks are a lifetime’s supply of food.

In this session, James shares his journey from moving from a big tech company to Australia’s largest bank and how the unique problem spaces along with a difference in culture sets off a chain reaction in building Australia’s growing digital economy.

James Wilson

James has 20 years of experience in software and network engineering in Australia and the US. Prior to x15ventures, James was at Apple in Cupertino where he was responsible for the software engineering teams that developed productivity apps, the device setup experience and data privacy systems. He has also spent time at Amazon working on applying machine learning to network monitoring at a massive, global scale.
